Sep 16: Broncos Opening Game - Juego de inicio de temporada

Jill and I went to the Broncos vs Raider opening game. We went with our good friends Robby and Rachel. We started at the club level seats near the big screen/scoreboard. They had the best darn hot dogs I have ever had in a stadium... I can't wait to have another one!! Overal it was an awesome game, the Broncos kicked ass!!

Here we are at the suite, we had to move because there was lighning warning and the game was stopped for a while. Long enough to walk all the way to the suite. Good friends, home team winning, free food and free tickets... it really can't get any better!!

Sep 8: Testing the car seat - provando el asiento del carro

Well, he had to make sure we know how to use the straps before the baby comes, right? So we used the teddy bear...

Pues tuvimos que asegurarnos de saber cómo usar el asiento del carro para el bebé antes de que él viniera, así que tuvimos que usar un osito de peluche...

We went to the fire station for a carseat inspection and the fireman got a good laugh, apparantely he has never seen parents do that before... what? aren't they normal. We did a good job and we only needed to tighten a little bit more the c-belt on the car seat.

Fuimos a la estación de bomberos para que inspeccionaran la instalación del asiento en los carros y el bombero que nos checó se echó una buena carcajada al ver al osito de peluche porque al parecer los demás papás no hacen eso... a poco? que no son normales o qué? Lo único que tuvimos que hacer fue apretar más el cinturón de seguridad.

Aug 19-21: Maroon Bells, Aspen, CO

Jon and I went for summer backpacking trip to Maroon Bells. In three days we covered about 29mi loop and go over four 12,000+ ft passes. Jon y yo fuimos acampar en el verano a las montañas de Maroon Bells en Aspen, Colorado. En tres días cubriríamos una distancia de más de 45km y cuatro montañas de más de 3,700m de altura.

We got there saturday night and we had to sleep on the car before we could start our adventure. We started early Sunday and we got lost from the beginning... well, we just took an extra left turn which lead us to an scening loop. It was actually a warm up. What's one mile more, right?

Llegamos un sábado por la noche y tuvimos que pasar la noche en la camioneta porque ya no habían lugares para acampar cerca del estacionamiento. Empezamos el domingo tempranito y luego luego nos perdimos. Tomamos una vuelta extra a la izquierda y terminamos recorriendo unos metros extras. La verdad hizimos ese recorrido... ya dice!

In one day we covered two passes and I will say about 14 mi. Check the album and the map for the album as well so you get an idea where in the Maroon Bells I was.

En tan sólo un día, recorrimos casi la mitad de la ruta y cubrimos dos de los cuatro pases. Dale click al album y checa la localidad de las fotos para que te des una idea por dónde andaba.

In our second day we got lost... again! But we found I really cool place to chill for a little bit. Once we got back on the trail we had to cross a river... It was SO COLD! My toes were numb! Jon mentions in the video that I am the first Mexican crossing a river... I don't think so.

En el segundo día nos volvimos a perder, pero al menos encontramos un lugar para descansar un ratito y la vista estaba increible. Una vez que regresamos a la ruta, tuvimos que cruzar un río, el agua estaba friísima al punto que se me entumieron los pies. Jon comenta durante el video que yo soy el primer mexicano en cruzar el río... JAjaJAjajajaja!

I barely made it to the third pass, Trail Rider Pass. We made scramble eggs for breakfast out of those dry foods. We also had dessert and tons of red gatorade as well. My stomach didn't take it and I was leaving a trail of food along the way... yuck! There were people on horses not far behind us that I was tempted to ask to give me a ride to the top, but they never passed us and I had to make it on my own... well, Jon help a little as he made it to the top, left his backpack, came back and carried my back pack the last quarter of a mile to the top of the pass.

Por poquito no llego a la tercera montaña, Trial Rider Pass. El problema fue que preparamos para el desayuno huevos revueltos, postre y tomamos un chingo de gatorade y a mi estomago no le gustó la combinación. Canté Oaaaaxaca y fui dejando rastros de comida a lo largo de la ruta. Habían unas personas montando caballos no muy lejos detrás de nosotros a los cuales les iba a pedir un aventón a la cima pero nunca pasaron así que me tuve que echar el último jalón con algo de ayude de Jon ya que cargó mi mochila de acampar en los ultimos metros.

What's a camping trip without fire... enjoy! Acampar sin fogata no es acampar... disfruten.

Finally, our last pass: Buckskin Pass. Oh! the Solitude. Finalmente, la última montaña: Buckskin Pass... ah la soledad.

Aug 26: Painting The Nursery - El cuarto del bebé

I finally got to work on the nursery. We picked three colors of blue as you can see on the video. By far is my best painting job! The plan is to paint stars on the ceiling once we (and by we I mean me, Esteban) are done. It was a little chaotic because I broke the lamp on the ceiling fan and our floor lamp glass when I was vacuuming. Only one small deep cut but I am ok though, just in case you were wondering.

Por fin comencé a pintar el cuarto del bebé. Escogimos tres tonos de azul como podrán ver en el video. El cuarto es hasta el moemento mi mejor obra maestra... ya pues piccaso!! El plan es pintar estrellas en el techo una vez que terminemos... bueno que termine. Hubo un poco de desastre porque rompí la lámpara del ventilador del techo y lámpara de piso vidro voló por todos lados. Nada grave, solamente una cortadita en el brazo pero no oigame, me "achutó"... Mi'jo! Más vale que te guste el cuarto jijo'e la mocha!

Aug 22: Mexico vs Colombia

La Selección Mexicana

México vino a Denver, Colorado a jugar un partido amistoso contra Colombia. Los boletos los compré desde el 4 de julio mientras estaba en un partido de los Rapids de Colorado, tan luego me enteré que venia la selección pa' pronto compro los boletos. Ésta fue mi primera vez para ver a la selección jugar, desafortunadamente perdieron 1 a 0 aunque tuvieron un chingo de oportunidades de anotar, checa los videos y las fotos!

¡Y arrancan!

July 31: Super Liga 2007 Chivas vs Pachuca

Sintiendo la emoción en la oficina antes del partido de las Chivas del Guadalajara contra los Tuzos del Pachuca. Getting ready for the game Chivas vs Pachuca.

Blue Demon (Esteban) & Máscara Año 2000 (Jon).

Hicieron presencia durante el partido Ramón Morales y Omar Bravo los cuales juegan para la selección. Omar entró en el segundo tiempo pero sólo para calentar porque no metió ningún gol. Desafortunadamente las Chivas perdieron 1-0 contra los Tuzos, quienes se fueron a la final y le ganaron a LA Galaxy donde juega David Beckham. ¡¡El pachuca ganó 1 milón de dólares en la final además del campeonate!! ¿Qué chido, no?

Ramón Morales and Omar Bravo, who play on the national team played showed up. Chivas lost 1-0 against Pachuca who made it to the SuperLiga 2007 final against LA Galaxy. Pachuca won and took a million dollars.

Jul 27: 5th Anniversary - 5to Aniversario

This... is our room at the Brown Palace hotel, which is in Downtown Denver. We arrived Friday afternoon. We walked around 16th street mall and went for a late lunch at The Cheescake Factory mmmmhh! We took the free bus back to the hotel (well, a couple of blocks away) and took an afternoon nap. For dinner we went to Maggiano's little Italy where we had lasagna.

Este es nuestro cuarto en el hotel Brown Palce en el centro de Denver. Llegamos el viernes en la tarde y después de registranos y checar el cuarto, nos fuimos almorzar al Cheescake Factory. Luego nos regresamos a descansar al hotel y a echarnos un sueñito. Para la cena nos fuimos a Maggiano's por comida italiana donde pedimos la lasaña.

Our second night was at the Omni Hotel close to the Flatiron Mall. The package was a killer deal! It included couples massages, lunch, and as you can see welcome strawberries and champaign. And of course we were close to the Mall!! Hello Shopping!

Nuestra segunda noche nos la pasamos en el Hotel Omni cerca del Flatiron Mall. El paquete incluyó masaje de parejas, almuerzo y fresas cubiertas de chocolate y una botella de champaign como bienvenida.

Jul 25: Colorado Rockies Game

My company had a team building day and we went for a baseball game at Coors Field where the Rockies played against the Padres. We sat on the rock pile and boooy was it a hot summer day in Denver!! Luckily we had some beers before the game at Breckenridge Brewery and because the Rockies won Blake Street Bar was giving away one free beer... of course we went and checked it out!

Jul 21st: Longs Peak Chasm Lake - Lago Chasm en Pico Longs

Jon, Esteban and Josh on a new adventure. I went out hiking again with two friends from work. This time we went to Chasm Lake in Longs Peak in the other side of Rocky Mountain National Park. We started on a much higher altitude this time to keep on training for our backpacking trip. From the ranger station to Chasm Lake it's about 4.2 mi and I think we started at 9K feet...

We had lunch and Jill's hiking best friend joined us... a marmot. We named it "Woody Woodchunk". Apparently someone left a banana pill that Woody was chowing and not sharing!

Jul 14: Mallory Cave, Boulder, CO

I went with a couple of friends from work, Jon and Josh, for a hike to the Mallory Cave in Boulder. It was really fun despite the fact that my heart almost exploded, but thanks to a candy bar I was right on track and ready to Conquer the trail. After the hike we went Pearl St in downtown Boulder where we ate at BJs italian restaurant which has awesome pizza and calzones and the wheat beer was mmmmh de-li-ci-us!!

4th of July - 4 de Julio

As if one night of fireworks wasn't enough! We went to the Colorado Rapids on July 4th for a soccer game and more fireworks. We went with our friends and neighbors Robby and Rachael and their kids Jenson and Jameson. Final score was 0-0 but there were some really good plays and at least we got a chance to get loud and blow the horn to cheer for the Rapids, to bad I forgot my Blue Demon wrestling mask. Jenson did a better job his first try blowing the horn than Neil did when we went visit him and Marth to L.A. and went for a Chivas USA vs Chicago Fire match.

Como si una noche de fuegos pirotécnicos no fuera suficiente nos fuimos al partido de futbol de los Rapids de Colorado para el 4 de julio y por supuesto para ver más fuegos artificiales. Fuimos con nuestros amigos y vecionos Robby y Rachael y sus niños Jenson y Jameson. El partido quedó 0-0 pero al menos hubieron varias jugadas donde tuvimos la oportunidad de echar porras y hacer ruido con la trompeta pupu-pu-pu-puuuuuu. Lástima que se me olvido mi máscara de blue demon pa' ponermela, a lo mejor por eso no anotaron.

At half time most of the Colorado Mascots played some soccer. It was really funny, too bad I ran out of memory. Al medio tiempo varias botargas de differentes equipos de colorado jugaron un partidito de futbol. Estuvo bien divertido pero de mala suerte se me acabo la memoria de la cámara.
